Sayed Abdelhafiz, Al Ahly’s director of football, spoke after our team’s brave 3-2 victory over El Entag El Harby SC on Sunday night in the Egyptian Premier League. 

We came from behind twice to complete a sensational comeback and achieve a precious three points in our journey to defend the domestic league title. 

“Some people say that we are suffering in the league and I say no we are leading the race. I want our fans to keep supporting the players. I promise our fans that we will fight to win the title. The coaching staff motivates the players to win the trophy and keep it at Gezira.” 

“Two years ago, we played an important away game against El Gouna and came from behind to score two goals and win the game. That is the spirit of our team, we never stop fighting.” 

“This season, we played 10 matches including a game at the Egyptian Cup in a span of 28 days. It was a busy schedule and we were under pressure. Now, our rivals requested to postpone a cup game to have extra rest!”

“We just ask for equal treatment. Zamalek’s upcoming home match was moved to Alexandria. This decision raises many questions especially that three days later, they will face Al Ittihad in Alexandria. On a similar note, El Gouna will face Smouha in Alexandria and three days later, they will face us at El Gouna so what would be the decision if they wanted to postpone the game against us.” 

“The Egyptian Football Association did not reschedule any of our games, but we were playing many crucial matches in the CAF Champions League competition.”
